An Unforeseen Entrance: Mother Delivers Baby in a Dramatic Manner at an American Hospital’s Parking Lot

While traveling to the infirmary, the infant was born at 9:20, weighing 3.2 kilograms and measuring 49 centimeters.

On Monday, December 20th, an expectant woman from Olmpia (SP) gave birth in a vehicle outside Hospital da Rianca (HM), a maternity hospital.

The couple was en route to Rio Preto, the birth location, when the incident occurred. The car passed through Bady Bassitt venue as the mother went into labor.

Theo didn’t wait for his mother, Arolina, to arrive at the hospital; instead, he was delivered in the car, in the parking lot.

Father Roger André Souza Mazer stated, “Our family has a history of unusual births, and this is our first daughter. So we were calm and confident that it could have happened anywhere. The contractions began at 6 a.m., peaceful and gradual. My 27-year-old wife, Arolina Arvalho, who is serene and knowledgeable about the subject, stayed at home with my mother. I went to work and told her that if the contractions started, she should contact me, and I would rush home to pick her up and bring her to the hospital.”

He also added, “Around 8:20 a.m., I picked her up from her house, and we headed towards São José do Rio Preto with additional contractions. About one kilometer from the hospital, my driver and I stopped the car to summon the doctor, who rushed to the parking lot with the medical staff. I stopped the car at the hospital’s entrance, where the doctor and his team arrived. With complete support and safety, a son was born. The mother was accompanied by Fabrício de Freitas, a member of the hospital staff.”

Roger responded, “We feel gratitude” when asked if they experienced gratitude. It is an extraordinary event in our lives. And we were secure at all times, without any “buts.”

The father, who has an affinity for automobiles, stated that “the sensation of having a child delivered in a car cannot be described. Very gratifying!”
