The Incredible Journey of a Pregnant Couple with Four Children: From Hope to Reality

When Carlos and Erica Morales first found out they were expecting quadruplets, they were filled with joy about the pregnancy. After Erica, 36, had a fertility treatment, the couple successfully conceived their four little ones — three girls and one boy — as reported by People.

Carlos embraces his newfound role as a father to newborn quadruplets with the support of his family and America. Let’s meet Carlos Jr., Erica, Paisley, and Tracy, who are all incredibly adorable.

“Nothing in my life had ever made me this happy,” says Carlos Morales, 29. However, a few hours after their four babies were born, everything went terribly wrong. The love of his life, his wife Erica, 36, went into hypovolemic shock and tragically passed away due to severe blood loss. “These babies don’t know yet what blessings they have given me. They have given me four reasons to live,” Carlos says.

Born first at 3 lbs., 4 oz., Tracy (pictured second from the left) is now the largest quad, weighing 6 lbs., 4 oz. “She has a laid-back personality like me,” Carlos says, noting that she also displays traits of her late mother, Erica, such as her love for sleep. “She doesn’t give me any trouble. Her siblings could learn a thing or two from her!” Tracy is almost always cheerful, especially when she’s given something to eat. During the pregnancy, Erica would affectionately call Tracy “poundcake” because she was the first baby to reach a pound in her belly.

Carlos Jr., who was born at 2 lbs. 15 oz., has grown to 5 lbs. 13 oz., thanks in part to his love for food (“It’s incredible,” adds Dad). Carlos enjoys wrapping Carlos Jr. in small blankets, “like a burrito,” along with his brothers. This little guy, who is slightly quieter than the others, has a calming effect on his fellow quads. Carlos says, “I have a hunch he’ll be a protective brother.”

The smallest baby of the four, Erica, who was born at just 2 lbs., 10 oz., is now healthy at over 5 lbs. She resembles her mother in many ways — “she enjoys her sleep and likes to relax,” Carlos says. That is, until the morning comes when she has developed a habit of crying loudly. At the hospital, Erica’s friends brought colored cotton balls so everyone could differentiate Erica from Paisley, her twin (Carlos refers to the two of them as “twinkies”). Erica’s cotton ball is green, her late mother Erica’s favorite color.

Tracy (second from the left) was the first quad to be born, weighing 3 lbs., 4 oz., and is currently the largest quad at 6 lbs., 4 oz. Carlos adds, “She’s laid-back like me,” noting that she shares features with her late mother, Erica, such as a love for sleep. “She doesn’t bother me in the least. Her siblings could learn a lot from her!” Tracy is almost always ecstatic, especially after a meal. Since Tracy was the first baby to weigh a pound, Erica called her “poundcake” during her pregnancy.
